In the year 5012, Earth faces an aerial invasion by Aliens and their Machine Lifeforms, pushing humanity to the brink of extinction. The surviving humans take refuge on the moon and deploy android soldiers to reclaim their home. However, the war reaches a stalemate as the Machine Lifeforms multiply endlessly. As a last resort, humanity dispatches a new unit of androids called YoRHa. Newly assigned to Earth, the battle android 2B joins 9S, an analyst already stationed there, and together they encounter mysterious phenomena during their mission to fight for mankind.
