In the aftermath of World War II, the small Japanese island of Shikotan, north of Hokkaido, is occupied by Soviet forces. Brothers Junpei and Kanta Senou, named after characters from their late mother's favorite book, "Night on the Galactic Railroad," find their lives changed by the occupation. Despite the growing tensions and language barriers, Junpei forms an unlikely friendship with Tanya, the daughter of a Soviet commander. The story is inspired by true events and commemorates the 50th anniversary of the Japan Association of Music Enterprises (JAME).
