FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST

Synopsis

In a world where alchemists can reshape and transform matter, the art is governed by the Law of Equivalent Exchange: nothing can be gained without giving up something of equal value. Human transmutation is the gravest taboo, yet brothers Edward and Alphonse Elric attempt it in hopes of bringing their dead mother back to life. The ritual fails disastrously. Edward loses his left leg, then sacrifices his right arm to bind Alphonse's soul to a suit of armor after his brother's entire body is taken. Fitted with mechanical auto-mail limbs, Edward is urged by the alchemist Roy Mustang to join the military as a State Alchemist, earning the title "Full Metal Alchemist." With Alphonse at his side, he travels the country in search of the legendary Philosopher's Stone, said to hold the power to restore what the brothers lost.
