Billy Bat

Synopsis

In 1949 Los Angeles, Japanese-American comic book artist Kevin Yamagata finds success with his popular detective series, "Billy Bat," featuring a quick-witted cartoon bat. However, Kevin discovers that he may have unconsciously plagiarized the character from an image he saw while serving in occupied Japan. He returns to war-torn Japan to find the original artist and seek permission to use the character. Upon his arrival, Kevin becomes entangled in a web of murder, cover-ups, and prophecy, all connected to the mysterious origins of Billy Bat.
