In the Septian calendar year 1205, Lavian "Lavi" Winslet grows up in North Ambria, the poorest region in the northwest of the Zemurian continent. Her grandfather Vlad was once revered as a hero before he betrayed North Ambria, and she is determined to protect her hometown and prove she is nothing like him. To that end she enlists with the Northern Jaegers, the largest mercenary group on the continent, and throws herself into her missions, often breaking regulations along the way. Lavi is ordered to form a platoon with Martin S. Robinson, Iseria Frost and Talion Drake. Their task is a reckless covert reconnaissance mission into the Erebonian Empire, aimed at learning about the "Hero of the Empire," a mysterious new threat to North Ambria.
