Ghost Hound is set in Suiten, a small, modest town in an isolated mountain region of Kyushu. Three middle school students, Taro Komori, Makoto Oogami and Masayuki Nakajima, each carry a traumatic past that cannot be erased. Taro in particular has repressed memories of a kidnapping eleven years earlier, and they resurface in his dreams. The boys discover that their souls can leave their bodies and travel between the Apparent World of everyday reality and the Unseen World, the realm of spirits. The Unseen World is not a simple mirror of ours, and it is undergoing changes that let ghosts slip into the real world with unpredictable effects. Together the boys try to understand the mystery linking the two worlds and their own pasts. The series was made as Production I.G's 20th anniversary project.
