In a world governed by two types of tarot cards, the Diablos Tarot feeds on human souls to cause suffering, while the Elemental Tarot draws power from nature to oppose it. Girls from 22 distinct bloodlines are chosen to wield the Elemental Tarot and engage in a secret battle. Akari Taiyo, a 12-year-old aspiring fortune teller, discovers she is one such wielder, inheriting "The Sun" card from her late mother. She joins Sefiro Fiore, an organization dedicated to fighting creatures called Daemonia, which are humans possessed by negative emotions. Akari soon learns that defeating a Daemonia means eliminating the possessed person entirely, forcing her to confront the grim reality of her role.
