First-year high schooler Midori Asakusa loves anime and believes that "concept is everything" in animation. Despite filling sketchbooks with ideas, she hesitates to create anime alone. Her best friend, Sayaka Kanamori, a pragmatic and financially-minded student, recognizes Midori's talent. They soon discover that their charismatic classmate, Tsubame Mizusaki, a fashion model, secretly dreams of becoming an animator. Tsubame is particularly skilled at drawing the human form, while Midori excels at backgrounds and settings. To combine their skills and realize their "ultimate world," the trio forms an animation club, which they sometimes disguise as a motion picture club.
