Sorata Kanda, a second-year high school student at Suimei High, is forced to move into the infamous Sakura Hall after being caught keeping a stray cat in the regular dorms. Sakura Hall is known for housing the school's most eccentric and problematic students, including the energetic animator Misaki Kamiigusa, the playboy writer Jin Mitaka, and the reclusive programmer Ryuunosuke Akasaka. Sorata's goal is to escape this unusual dorm as soon as possible. However, his plans are complicated when Mashiro Shiina, a beautiful and world-renowned artist who is completely incapable of taking care of herself, moves in. Sorata is tasked with looking after Mashiro, leading to a unique "master and pet" relationship.
