THE NEW GATE is an online game that suddenly turns into a deadly trap, sealing thousands of real-world players inside its virtual space. Their way out falls to Shin (Shinya Kiritani), the strongest player in the game, a young swordsman who sets out to end the ordeal. After a life-or-death battle, his blade strikes down Origin, the game's most powerful enemy and final boss. An announcement then rings across the world declaring the game cleared and the captives free to go. As the other players log out, Shin prepares to leave the world he knows so well, but an unfamiliar gate opens behind him. Engulfed in light, he wakes in the world of THE NEW GATE as it stands 500 years after his victory. His unrivaled strength is intact, and a journey through this changed land lies ahead.
