Twenty years ago, the Emperor of Szaalenden sent fourteen elite warriors to stop an invasion by the dark nation of Wischtech. Only seven came home, and they were celebrated as the Seven Heroes. Three were said to have died on the way, while four were branded traitors, killed and remembered as the Traitorous Lances. Ascheriit, once honored as the empire's finest swordsman, belonged to the fallen and saw his name turn infamous. In the present day, a mysterious half-elf boy named Köinzell wanders the land carrying a black sword that has become the subject of bloody rumors. Köinzell has taken up the hunt for the celebrated Heroes. The story follows his quest and the people who come to share his aims.
