In a future where the virtual fighting game "Rhyme" and AI companions called "AllMates" are prevalent, Aoba Seragaki lives a quiet life on Midorijima. This island, southwest of Japan, was largely acquired by Toue Inc. to build the luxurious "Platinum Jail," displacing original residents to an Old Residential District. Aoba works at a junk shop and lives with his grandmother, avoiding both the virtual "Rhyme" battles and the physical turf wars of "Rib" gangs. However, his peaceful existence is disrupted when he is unwillingly drawn into a Rhyme battle and rumors spread about people disappearing or suffering injuries related to these games.
