Honoka Takamiya is an ordinary, rather laid-back student at Tougetsu High School who wants nothing more than an uneventful life. His one recurring trouble is Ayaka Kagari, the school's adored "Princess," who excels at both academics and the sword. He rides the same bus as her and sits beside her in class, yet the two have never truly spoken, and the slightest contact with her gets him roughed up by her devoted fan club. One day after school, while taking out the trash, Honoka is caught up in the "Witch of the Tower" incident and nearly crushed by a falling piece of the school building. Ayaka rescues him in witch's garb, carrying him in her arms on a broom. She reveals that she is a fire witch whose sole mission is to protect him. Until now she had done so covertly, but she can now guard him openly.
