Mikazuki Subaru is a 23-year-old mystery novelist who is introverted and struggles with social interactions, preferring solitude over company. His parents died in an accident, leaving him alone. One day, while visiting his parents' grave, he encounters a stray cat named Haru. Feeling inspired, Subaru brings Haru home to be his muse for a new novel. Haru, a cat accustomed to a harsh life on the streets, sees Subaru as a source of food and shelter. The story follows their unexpected cohabitation, told from both Subaru's and Haru's perspectives, as they navigate their new life together.
