In 52 B.C., Vercingetorix, the Chieftain of the Arveni tribe, initiated a significant revolt to unite the Gauls against Roman rule. The narrative follows his ascent to power, beginning with an encounter where he rescues 11-year-old Taranis. Taranis is the sole son of a Gallic hero who was executed by the Romans. After his rescue, Taranis joins Vercingetorix as he gathers his forces to fight for the liberation of Gaul.
