Ventriloquist Cat is a 1950 animated short directed by Tex Avery and produced by Fred Quimby for MGM Cartoons. It was released in the US on May 27, 1950, by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, alongside the feature The Big Hangover. The cartoon stars Spike, a bulldog, and Blackie the Cat. After Spike catches Blackie scrawling an insulting message about dogs on a fence, the cat flees and tumbles into a box of assorted tricks. Inside he finds a ventriloquist's device that lets him throw his voice, and he uses it to play a series of practical jokes on the bulldog.
