After being dumped for being boring, May accepts a wealthy man's invitation to a luxurious Manhattan hotel for five nights to prove her ex wrong. However, her host never appears, leaving her alone in New York. Encouraged by a friend to seek adventure, May decides to transform herself. She goes to a fashionable bar, adopting a cool and urbane persona, where she encounters local author Beck Desmond. This meeting inspires May, a self-described "plain country flower," to embrace a new, vibrant city life.
