Tetsujin

Synopsis

Sho Tobio, a 10-year-old boy, moves from Japan to Dong Bei City in the People's Republic of China with his robotic pet, Atom. His mother, Saeko, an MIT-educated scientist, is tasked with re-evaluating Japanese weapons left over from colonialism, some of which are emitting dangerous gas. Sho, who was born in Japan and grew up in America, finds himself in an unwelcoming environment due to local anti-Japanese sentiment. Atom is his only companion as his mother is often busy. One night, during a blackout, Atom reacts to a transmission and leads Sho to a basement where they discover a gigantic robot.
