Sonoda Haru, a 16-year-old, harbors a long-standing crush on his popular, athletic, and intelligent classmate, Honda Chikako. Despite his feelings, Haru, an average teenager, has made no progress in pursuing her. His life takes an unexpected turn when he is compelled to buy a welcoming cat from a street vendor. This purchase makes him the 10,000th user, summoning Maneki Nekotaro, a sentient welcoming cat from another world. Nekotaro offers to grant Haru any wish, and Haru's sole desire is to be with Chikako. However, Nekotaro's expertise lies in financial matters, leaving him unprepared to handle romantic problems.
