Miwa, Motoaki, Ritsu, Aoi, and Satoru are childhood friends who grew up together in the same apartment complex and now attend the same high school. While they remain friends, their relationships have grown more complex. Miwa harbors unrequited feelings for Motoaki, who sees her only as a friend. Aoi, despite appearing friendly with Miwa, struggles with jealousy and feelings of inferiority towards her, and is dating Satoru. Ritsu observes the dynamics of the other four from a distance, expressing dissatisfaction with their interactions.
