Bronte, fleeing a failed wedding, seeks shelter in a cabin and encounters Mars West, a blood-soaked man with gold eyes who claims to have committed murder. He impulsively kisses her before police arrive to arrest him. Five years later, Bronte travels to New York to visit Mars, who has served two years in prison for a crime he did not commit. The story follows Mars's quest for revenge against his former wife, Chantal, who he believes faked her death and reinvented herself as supermodel Mischief Jones, leading to a complex web of intrigue and manipulation.
