Based on the popular musical, "Elisabeth" is a manga that chronicles the life of a 19th-century Austrian Empress. Marrying Emperor Franz Joseph at a young age, she is brought into the lavish Viennese court. There, she finds herself stifled by the rigid court protocols and yearns for personal freedom. As the Austrian monarchy declines, she grapples with her own psychological struggles and develops a strong, mysterious connection to the figure of Death throughout her life.
