Cardinal Thread

Synopsis

During the Taisho Era, a peculiar phenomenon plagues the imperial capital: when the "red thread" connecting people breaks, strange creatures emerge. Sazuki, a young man working at his childhood friend's apothecary, struggles with a debt-ridden father who forced his sister Takamizu into a brothel. One day, Sazuki encounters a monstrous being and witnesses its defeat by a beautiful girl and a mysterious gentleman. These deformed creatures are said to appear when a person's heart becomes twisted, tangling a thread known as "kizuna."
