Nijou Hanabi and Natori Izumi, childhood friends whose families are close, begin middle school together. They have always been in the same classes and learned kendo. Their homeroom teacher warns them that middle school will be different, but Hanabi initially sees little change as she and Izumi remain close. As they make new friends, including Homare, they join the kendo club. Hanabi and Homare are the only girls in the club, which draws unexpected attention. Soon, Hanabi's relationship with Izumi becomes complicated by emerging jealousies, marking a significant shift from their childhood dynamic.
