In the Edo period's Genroku era, courtesan Oran and Shinzaburo, a money changer's son, committed suicide after vowing to reunite in another life. Three hundred years later, Oran is reincarnated as Harukawa Ran, an 18-year-old with her past memories intact. She seeks out Shintaro, Shinzaburo's reincarnation. However, Shintaro is a lazy and lecherous man who has no recollection of his past life. Mistaking Ran for a prostitute, he takes her virginity, leading to a perplexing and unusual cohabitation as Ran tries to navigate their new reality.
